A woman was sentenced to 42 months in prison for embezzling funds from a Washington DC ballet school to nurture her playing habit. The 60-year-old was also ordered to repay $ 3 million fine or risk spending even more time behind bars.

Sophie Kim was the treasurer of the association Universal Ballet Foundation, and stole money using both checks and cards nearly 250 times at the MGM National Harbor casino.

Incredibly, she got her job after completing three years of probation after being imprisoned for financial crimes in the past. We assume that she did not report her previous convictions.

In 2012, she was sent to prison for filing false tax returns and tax evasion in another non-profit organization and served two years before being released on parole. It is not known if there are any accusations that she stole money to gamble on this occasion.

In 2018, Kim was fired from her role due to “performance issues” and inexplicably told a former colleague what she had done. His lawyer, David W. Bos, explained to the president that she had a untreated gambling addiction and had been following group theory for over two years in hopes of curing his problem.

Bos even told the court that Kim used to replace money stolen from foundation bank accounts when she had a good run.
